Our Story

Learn about our founding story, our approach to craft, and what we stand for.

Saima Abrar, founder of House of Bohi, photographed with a collection of handwoven wool and jute rugs from her family's four-generation rug-making lineage in Bhadohi, India.

From India to Australia

House of Bohi is a homage to our founder's homeland of Bhadohi, India’s storied Carpet City. A small town with a global footprint, where the work of human hands, guided by a practised rhythm refined over generations, has long furnished homes around the world.

Today, our founder Saima continues that lineage from Sydney, bringing her heritage to Australia while keeping the work maker-led, traceable, and intentional by design.

Each rug is imbued with culture and heart, carrying a story you can feel underfoot. One of skill, pride and place, made to ground your space so you can start weaving stories of your own.

Our Driving Force

The principles that guide how we show up

Integrity by Design

Higher standards. No dilution.

We keep the process internal, from fibre selection to finishing. By working directly with our weavers and maintaining line-of-sight on every decision, we protect quality, ethics, and detail at every stage.

Community & Connections

Clear origins. Real names. True stories.

A family-led business built on relationships, not transactions. We work face-to-face with our artisans and their families, with respect that runs both ways.

Passion

Passion for craft, honest materials and things made well.

We are constantly refining, learning and re-imagining traditional craft in contemporary ways, so every rug brings quiet elegance and lasting quality to your space.

Celebrate & Preserve

A living craft, valued and enduring.

We are driven to keep the craft of traditional rug-making not only alive, but valued. We honour the hands and knowledge behind each rug through dignified living and respect, so upcoming generations can choose the craft with pride, close to home and family.

Our Commitment

The BOHI Difference

"In a world trained for fast purchases and even faster replacement, we choose a different rhythm. Outside of a limited number of pieces in stock, each rug is made to order, shaped around your space and your pace. It’s for the moment you stop searching for ‘good enough’ and choose a piece that truly fits.

Natural materials, considered design and a slower, more human way of making, so what arrives feels personal, settles in beautifully and is worth the wait."
